A beautiful award-winning example of this ultra-rare car, this 1999 Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo Plus has only 118,000kms on the clock and is in incredible condition. When it was built it was the fastest front wheel drive production car in the world producing 220bhp and a 0-100 time in the low 6 seconds. With the turbo on song, the 80-110kmh acceleration beats that of a Ferrari Testarossa!
The Plus version of this car was a special limited edition version that came with an increased specification such as a 6 speed gearbox; push button start; leather Recaro sports seats; a special set of white-faced dials; unique alloy wheels; front spoiler and side skirts etc
The Fiat Coupe was never sold in Australia and to my knowledge only about 20 exist in this country. I’ve seen/hard of a few Coupes over here but have never seen a Plus version on the road so this makes an already-rare car even rarer.
This particular car started life built for the Japanese market and was used by Fiat as a show car for them in Japan. The advantage of this is that it is right hand drive and the speedo is in kms already rather than other models that might have been imported from the UK. However, by far the biggest benefit of being a Japanese import as opposed to a UK import is that there is not a single bit of corrosion on the car – most if not all cars from the UK will have some form of corrosion somewhere on the car and some of it can be terminal but not on this one. It is totally rust-free.
This has been my pride and joy for over 5 years now and has wanted for nothing. It has been a daily driver and serviced as it should have been and has had any necessary parts replaced as required. It gets washed every week and has been ceramic coated as well to protect the paintwork.
It has benefitted from a sympathetic ‘refresh’ of the paintwork a few years ago to keep it looking amazing and has a new radio with Bluetooth installed but other than that it is totally unmolested and original.
