  • November 2015 Breakfast Run
It was a rather sombre atmosphere at the start of the November breakfast run, with the recent death of our President Peter Taylor still very fresh in our minds. However, we all agreed that Pete would not want us to stop enjoying our cars and the roads through the lovely Adelaide Hills, so we set off on a great drive to Meadows to try out a new cafe - Mawson House.
A record 34 people turned out, and all the cars wore black bands to show our respect for Peter. But there was still a measure of joviality in the group, as Peter would certainly have wished, and Mawson House Cafe proved to be quite a revelation.

  • Club week away - The Grampians and The Great Ocean Road
It was with much anticipation (and preparation!) that an intrepid group of 18 set off on a warm Saturday morning for our trip to The Grampians and The Great Ocean Road - a 500, Ritmo and a gaggle of X1/9s. We travelled through some nice south eastern rural areas, but the Grampians were beckoning - and how spectacular they were, both for driving and sight seeing.
The Great Ocean Road was next stop, and didn't disappoint. Returning through Nelson and Robe was also a pleasant drive, before the long haul home up the Coorong road.

  • September 2015 Breakfast Run
With a rather threatening sky we set off for Willunga via one of our favourite hills roads - Range Road to the top of Willunga Hill. The Farm at Willunga is a delightful little winery restaurant, and a great breakfast was had by all.
Aldinga Airport itself was a revelation - a tour of the facility and the amazing light planes they have, topped off with one of the best coffees you will get anywhere, enjoyed while watching biplanes coming and going. Thanks Terry for organising the visit.

  • July 2015 Breakfast Run
It's been a while since I've reported on a breakfast run, but rest assured they have been happening. For July, we had a reasonably short drive along Range Rd, finishing up at "The Gully" - the newly renovated Tea Tree Gully Hotel. As well as our Fiats, there were British, German and Japanese cars represented, and both the venue and the breakfast were great.

  • FLCCSA Christmas Dinner 2014
The famous Largs Pier Hotel was chosen for this year's club Christmas Dinner, and although this was the place that Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel started out, it is a bit more laid back these days. But it is also an excellent pub - a beautifully restored old building, great food, and excellent service.
Some of the group decided to make a night of it, and stayed in the pub, and all reports were that the accommodation was great as well.

  • Fiats in competition - December 2014
December is usually a bit lean for motor sport, but there have been two significant events lately, with our beloved Fiats competing. Russell Frick is finding that owning a bright red racing X1/9 is a bit like having a puppy - everybody wants to talk to you about it! But social side aside, Russel has competed in the Old Willunga Hillclimb and the Port Adelaide Carrera, and is steadily coming to grips with the car.
Alex Thomas brought the 1500 out for the Carrera, and viola! all the carby troubles are gone, and the car is performing very crisply; and Alex is too - witness the shot of him rounding the barrel with not too many millimetres to spare.
Andrew Coles also competed at Willunga in Mike's Alfa, but we only have a stationary shot because the photographer was busy driving most of the day!

  • Weekend Away - Strathalbyn - October 11-12th 2014
People do the daily commute to Adelaide from Strathalbyn, so you might ask "Why have a weekend away there?" Because it is in the middle of the Fleurieu Peninsula, home to some of the greatest driving roads anywhere in the world.
Our varied little group had a brilliant drive the long way on Saturday (can we go an even longer way, please?), and the Victoria Hotel excelled in both the welcome they gave us, and the magnificent evening dinner. No one was driving home, so...
The Sunday return trip via another longer way - Milang on the lake, and Langhorne Creek finished off a great weekend away.

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 3 - July 20th 2014
Some more good Fiat news - Russel Frick's crazy X1/9 track car has landed at Mallala.
And what a landing! Despite sensibly treading warily, Russell has put down a 1:22.9 lap, with plenty more to come when he and the X get a bit more familiar with each other. The car is powered by a 240hp Honda VTEC engine, which makes it a bit more lively than the usual 1500 SOHC.
And also significant, Andrew Coles' recently rebuit (again) X1/9 also made the road trip this time with no problems, including a short spin around the track.
Pics here thanks to Andrew anygivenreason.com.au.

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 2 - June 15th 2014
Some more good news - we have another new Fiat on the track at Mallala for the MSCA super sprints!
Greg Schultz has been building his beautiful X1/9 1500 for some years now, and at last has got to run it on the track. Not only did he have a trouble free run (quite an achievement on it's own for a new car), but has already set the benchmark for speed with a maiden 1:26.5 lap! we will watch with interest, but Greg's definitely on the move.
Also competing were club members Garren Harrell and Mike Coles. Garren in the MX5 getting faster and faster as he gets used to the MX5 and the new tyres, and Mike struggling in the Alfa with diabolical handling after making some suspension "improvements".

  • Mollydooker Breakfast Run - June 1st 2014
Sue and Derek Manning asked us some time ago if we would like to have a breakfast run to Mollydooker Winery, and the instant reply was, of course, YESSS!
Well, no one was disappointed. Mollydooker is a beautiful spot, and their wines are mostly aimed at the premium end of the market - just our territory(?) A great breakfast on the terrace was followed by a quick course in viticulture and wine making, and a tour of the impressive winery facility. Then, on to a spot of tasting, followed by some purchases.
The early winter morning was crisp and fine - spot on for touring an open car on the great roads we are privileged to have at our disposal, and we made good use of them.
It's hard to decide what was the highlight - magnificent hills roads, the winery view across McLaren Vale, the wines themselves, the hosts, the great company...?
Thanks to Sue and Derek (and the lovely people at Mollydooker) for this day out.
Photos here - thanks to Phil Holland.

  • Adelaide Motorsport Festival - April 12-13th 2014
The Sporting Car Club bravely put on a Goodwood style festival of motorsport in Adelaide recently, with spectacular results. The format was a hillclimb on the Saturday at Windy Point, followed by a supersprint and display at Victoria Park using part of the Grand Prix/Clipsal 500 track.
The hillclimb suffered some quite serious problems, resulting in first a shortening, then an abandoning of the meeting, but it is not all negative. The format and location are both brilliant, and it is hoped that the event can survive the shaky start, because it has the potential to become one of the classics.
The Victoria Park supersprint was a revelation! The setting was perfect, the track was so much fun, and the atmosphere with competitors and spectators mingling in the paddock was a joy.
There was only one Fiat entered, Alex Thomas in the supersprint, and he acquitted himself quite well in the ageing but lively 1500. The Coles Alfa ran as well, piloted by Andrew in the hillclimb, and Mike in the sprint.
Despite a few problems, for a first time event, the Festival was brilliant. Let's hope that the Adelaide Motorsport Festival goes on to great things - it should!

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 23rd 2014
Some good news at last - we have a new Fiat on the track at Mallala for the MSCA super sprints!
Well, not exactly new. Alex Thomas recently bought this historic track prepared Fiat 1500 from interstate, and couldn't wait to get back into it after a long absence himself from the track. The 1500 looks a treat, and although it had a few teething problems with carburation, Alex certainly got a taste of what is to come. Watch this space - we look forward to seeing Alex and the 1500 doing many, many laps at Mallala.
Also competing were club members Garren Harrell, and Andrew and Mike Coles. Andrew set a new personal best time in the Alfa, and although Mike was a bit further back, he had a ball doing battle with sundry Mazdas, including Garren enjoying his MX5s newly found grip. Further battles will certainly follow!

  • MSCA Trophy Picnic at Bethany Reserve - February 16th 2014
We didn't have too many sprinters in action for the 2013 season, and they weren't in Fiats, but we still had some success courtesy of Garren Harrell in his MX-5. Earlier last year I recall saying "welcome back" to Garren after a long layoff, and he didn't hang around for too long, with a class win to celebrate his comeback.
The day itself was wonderful - a perfect day for a long drive through the hills - first instruction: "turn into Gorge Rd, and drive 80 km to a turn off at Hurn Rd!". That was followed by a great club day under the trees at Bethany Reserve in the Barossa Valley, which was resplendant after a week which included 40 degree heat and then floods.
It was a double celebration, as Sue Manning was celebrating a birthday (which one, we don't know); a birthday cake was produced, candles blown out, and happy birthday sung, followed by Sue consuming the entire cake. OK, it was only a cup cake, but who gets to eat all their own birthday cake these days?

  • Run to Club Bicknell, Clayton - September 22nd 2013
David Bicknell and Alison have been developing their weekender overlooking beautiful Clayton for a little while now, and it's finally time to unveil the hacienda with a club run.
Glorious spring weather greeted us at the meeting point, and the intrepid group set out with instructions for the run. With a quiz (an exam?) at the end, we initially tried to stick to the agenda, but in the end just enjoyed the drive. Despite all having the same instructions, there were several routes taken, but no one was complaining!
At Clayton, Dave and Alison put on a wonderful spread, and afterwards grilled us with a series of quiz questions, which soon descended into chaos, but lots of fun. Thanks Dave and Alison - we appreciate the effort you put into making ours a wonderful day out.

  • Weekend at Melrose - August 17-18th 2013
Melrose is a little town nestled at the foot of Mount Remarkable, in the southern Flinders Ranges about 270km north of Adelaide, and it was our destination for the weekend away.
The weekend didn't look too promising, with storms predicted, and the closure of Gorge Rd due to flooding and landslides necessitating a late change of route! But it was all good from there on, as the storms fizzled, and failed to ruin the trip. With great food, great roads, great company - who could complain?
Hickory's Run at Stone Hut was a memorable lunch on Saturday, and with a hot rod gathering on the same weekend, Melrose was abuzz. Despite our different take on what makes a great car, we found that we had a lot in common with the hot rodders, each appreciating the other's passion. The North Star hotel was great, Bluey's Blacksmith cafe a delight, and back at Stone Hut on Sunday, the legendary bakery didn't disappoint.
But the highlight for most was the incredible Port Germein Gorge road on the way home - 27km of tight, twisty bumpy bitumen which most of us hadn't travelled before, but certainly will again, because it is undoubtedly one of the great drives; the X1/9s in particular shone here in the demanding conditions. Can't wait to go back.
    Pics here.

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 24th 2013
No Fiats competed at the first round of the MSCA Supersprints for 2013, but watch this space - a number of interesting things will be happening soon!
Two members competed, both in Mazda MX-5s. Garren Harrell looked very much at home despite a 7 year absence, and you couldn't wipe the smile from his face. Andrew Coles also ran his venerable old MX-5 again in the absence of the Coles Alfa, which fell at the last preparation hurdle on Saturday night. Mike (me) waved flags for a change, and checked out the lines at turn 2; I don't know how many correct lines there are here, but there are many, many incorrect ones!
    Pics here.

  • MSCA Trophy Picnic - February 17th 2013
37C was the forecast temperature for the day, so not surprisingly many stayed away; the MSCA Trophy Presentation day was a bit lower in attendance than most years, but Mylor oval was the ideal venue with lots of shady trees, and we had quite a nice day out.
Of course, we didn't go the direct way there, and the morning drive was probably the highlight of the day, especially since we had no track heroes vying for trophies.
Four X1/9s and Brian's 128SL made up our display, and unfortunately even describing it as "minimalist" didn't get us the display prize.
    Pics here.

  • January Breakfast Run - January 6th 2013
During Adelaide's latest heat wave, Sunday morning in the hills is the best place to be - as long as they're not alight at the time, which thankfully they haven't been so far this summer. The venue was Clarendon River Bend reserve, which was beautifully cool (at least at breakfast time), and the drive there was pretty cool, too!
The Coles's cooked the BBQ and seeing that's Elsje and me I can't give an unbiased culinary review, but no one complained, and most came back for seconds, or thirds, or...

  • September Breakfast Run - September 2nd 2012
A great little drive led by Andrew Coles, starting with a beaut run up Montacute Road, to the Hahndorf Inn, for a Father's Day breakfast not to be forgotten. We put the pressure on them, too, as our booking for 25 turned into 35 on the day. They coped admirably and cheerfully, and that's why we loving going there.
Photo quality might look a bit elevated for this event, because they come courtesy of Andrew Coles. Check out www.anygivenreason.com for more of his great writing and photography.
Andrew's Fathers Day run pics here.

  • Fleurieu Peninsula Run - 19th August 2012
Tanks full at Blackwood on a foggy winter morning, we set out with maps provided, on a run through some little known roads, Targa Adelaide stages, and whatever else we could throw in. No one got lost (for long anyway), but a late arrival by Ross and Branca was explained by the navigator as "I took him the romantic way".
    Pics here.

  • August Breakfast Run - August 5th 2012
Peter Taylor promised us a great drive for the August run, and he certainly delivered. We arrived at the Cudlee Creek Tavern a little late (but for a very good reason - we were having a great drive through the hills).
New members Dave and Chris joined us for their first run with the club, in their recently acquired X1/9. Also Reidar Pedersen in the new Ritmo, Ross's unique (almost) 124 estate, Phil Manning's 500 Abarth Esse Esse, the usual mixture of Fiats, and even a few other makes.
    Pics here.

  • X1/9 Trip to Tasmania - April 7th-21st 2012
Some time ago it was suggested that the Fiat X1/9 would be the ideal car to tour Tasmania, with it's endless twisty mountain roads. The seed of an idea was planted.
Two years on, at Easter 2012, thirteen enthusiasts in seven X1/9s found themselves setting out together from Adelaide on an oddessy they would never forget. Four thousand glorious kilometres later, all seven thirty-odd year old cars returned to Adelaide intact, and still with the entire spare parts stock untouched.
There was lots of good food and wine (and cider, and beer, and...), lots of laughs (and a few tears), and plenty of spectacular scenery, but the undisputed stars of the trip were the incredible little cars and the wonderful roads they were driven on.
This wasn't an official club event, rather a trip away for a group of friends in the club, all of whom have the X1/9 bug. Paul and Fiona Howard did all the planning (no small effort), and Paul continued on as Captain of the crew for the trip; we can't thank them enough.
There seems to have been some interest in the trip, so here are some of the photos.

  • April Breakfast Run - April 1st 2012
Members Trevor and Dianne Unwin have a friend Raymond who is into British cars, and it was there we went for a view of his very special collection at McHarg's Creek in the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, for this month's breakfast run.
But not before a sumptuous breakfast at one of our favourite haunts, the Greenman Inn at Ashbourne, which handled our record 28 breakfasters with aplomb. Of course, whenever you drive the Bull Creek Road to a breakfast, the food could be terrible (which it definitely wasn't!) and you would still have had a good day. Steve at the Greenman Inn, Raymond and his wonderful collection, and Trevor's organisation, all contributed to a great outing. Your website editor then capped it off by dropping in on the Mount Alma Mile hillclimb on the way home, making for a memorable day out.
    Pics here.

  • March Breakfast Run - March 4th 2012
Any trip that starts with the Gorge Road, Birdwood, and finishes in the Barossa Valley can't be all bad! The Wanera Wine Bar Restaurant in Angaston was a gourmet delight, but the best was still to come.
Jason Spiteri arranged a tour of the Yalumba winery, ably hosted by Geoff and Ros Lynton, all club members. As the photos show, it was not only educational, but lots of fun as well. An encore is being talked about already - thanks so much Jason, Geoff and Ros. Pics here.

  • MSCA Trophy Picnic - Feb 26th 2012
Our MSCA year was a bit like our Fiat Nationals result - not burdened by any silverware to carry home! But for the same reason really - we had hardly any competitors. However, that didn't stop us from having a great social day out at the presentation picnic at Serafino Wines McLaren Vale, and a great drive in the wonderful Adelaide Hills.
    Photos here.

  • February Breakfast Run - Feb 5th 2012
Who said it was summer? We were greeted at Burnside with overcast, drizzly weather, but still around 20 breakfasters wanted to try the hills roads. And surprisingly, it got better as we went further into the hills, finishing at Handorf's newest favourite breakfast spot, The Haus.
    Photos here.

  • Fiat Nationals - Jan 20th-22nd 2012
Only a small band made went to Benalla this year, and whilst we didn't load ourselves up with silverware for the trip home, we certainly enjoyed it.
The weather was hot as usual, but isn't that better than rain and cold? At times we wondered...
Jason and Andrew Spiteri entered the 124 sedan and came a creditable 2nd and 3rd in class at the sprint, with the Coles Alfa soldiering on also, albeit amongst some pretty stiff competition. David Bicknell was our only entrant in the motorkhana, and did us proud, before succumbing to gremlins.
Phil Manning and Reidar Pedersen held up the social side, and also added to the show and shine with Phil's beaut 500 Abarth, one of only two at the event.
Photos here, with more to come, and results, later.

  • January Breakfast Run - New Years Day 2012
New Years Day - who would have thought anyone would turn up for a breakfast run after a big night out? Well, a dozen or so did, despite (or because of?) the hot weather. Clarendon reserve was, as usual, a great spot for a morning BBQ, and the drive there was the best way to start to 2012.
Just a couple of shots here.

  • Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb - Nov 4th-6th 2011
The website editor has a soft spot for 850 Sport Coupes, having bought one new some years ago, and it provided nothing but great memories.
Mount Gambier member Andy Gill is now campaigning his Sport Coupe in a variety of events, the highlight of which is the Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb. Mount Gambier always puts on a great show in the spectacularly beautiful volcanic crater area, whether you compete or just watch.
This year, Andy's improvements to the car have enabled him to knock three seconds off his previous best time, despite missing day one with a fried clutch.
It might not have been the biggest car at the Legend, but it was certainly one of the good lookers, and very popular with the crowd.
    Photos here.

  • November Breakfast Run - Nov 6th 2011
A short but exhilarating run through the hills, and then on to breakfast at the Rostrevor, where the annual Cars Rock display was in full swing, and our cars added to the spectacle.
Your editor wasn't able to make it, but Terry Beaston's photos show what a great day it was. Although, the pics just can't convey the wonderful food and music that went with it, on a beautiful Adelaide day.
    Photos here.

  • October Breakfast Run - Oct 2nd 2011
Nobody ever seems to tire of driving their Fiats and Lancias through the Adelaide Hills these days, and little wonder because they are looking glorious.
No less than 23 turned up for breakfast, and we drove a bit longer than usual this time, through Clarendon, Kangarilla, McLaren Vale and Mount Compass, before traversing the beautiful Nangkita Road to get us to Ashbourne and the very welcoming Greenman Inn.
For some of us even that wasn't enough, as we returned home the long way via the Lenswood apple growing region. The apple blossoms are out and looking beautiful, so if you can, go for a drive through there in October - you won't regret it.
    Pics here.

  • Classic Adelaide Targa - Sep 15-17th 2011
Guy Standen has quite a history of good drives in tarmac rallying, but the 2011 Classic Adelaide Targa was a high point. With new co driver Andrew Coles on board, the duo performed beyond everyone's expectations, including their own.
The 124 Sport performed beautifully, and with brilliant driving and navigating, managed 12th outright, and 6th in Late Classic class - with most in front of them being expensive, powerful rear engined German cars.
Look out soon for a more comprehensive article here and in the magazine, but for now just enjoy the pics we've put together in the gallery, including the other 124 Coupe of Victorians Steve Schmidt and Tony Young, and a few other Italian cousins as well.
    Pics here.

  • Punts and Bridges Run - Sep 11th 2011
Only a week after a breakfast run, but plenty of Fiats (and some other makes) made it for a great day out organised by David Bicknell, ably assisted by Alison.
We crossed the Onkaparinga, the Bremer, and the Murray (four times), and most importantly, had a great drive. The Fiats had an opportunity to hold some revs on for a while, with a great combination of wide open roads and hills twisties.
The quiz at the end was great fun, and the both the Wellington Courthouse (morning tea) and the Murray Bridge Club (lunch) excelled.
    Pics here.

  • September Breakfast Run - Sep 4th 2011
Father's Day - probably no one will turn up. Wrong!
Twenty three breakfasters meant we had to pick a venue that could cater with all of us at short notice, and the Big Rocking Horse at Gumeracha have always been good at that.
And quality was evident as well as quantity - Phil Manning's new 500 Abarth Esse Esse, and the Unwin's brought a Fiat at last - and what a beauty! I've always had a soft spot for 850s, and their little turbo 850 Sport Coupe is a ripper.
With the usual gaggle of X1/9s, 124 Coupe and Spider (and Estate!), 500, and a couple of Mazda MX5s, it was a great day out, despite a sprinkle of rain that caused a few roofs to go up, or on.
    Pics here.

  • August Breakfast Run - Aug 7th 2011
Who would believe that on a rainy winter morning we would get such a large turnout for a Sunday morning breakfast run in the hills? Well we did, and not only was quantity maxed out, so was quality. The usual bunch of X1/9s (including TWO from Peter Taylor!), Lancia HF 2000 and Beta sedan, Ross's 124 wagon, and other makes - MX5s, Honda and even a ripper Holden ute ex show car!
Mike set a run (with maps, even) which included roads most hadn't seen before, and the breakfast at The Haus in Hahndorf was brilliant.
    Pics here.

  • Mid Year Dinner - June 25th 2011
La Vita Ristorante at Kidman Park may not be trendy Norwood or North Adelaide, but what they lack in location they more than make up with great food and service.
Twenty or so members turned up for the dinner, and no one was disappointed. Entree and main course despatched, some of our number embarked on dessert, which proved to be the highlight of the evening. (Editor's note: try the Italian doughnut dish!)
    Pics here.

  • Phillip Island MSCA Supersprint - May 22nd 2011
With a sizeable gap in the local MSCA's supersprint competition, a small band of enthusiasts crossed the border for the May Phillip Island event to fill in the gap, and no one was disappointed. As well as the usual great social atmosphere, the competition at Phillip Island is, well, just superb. This is really one of the greatest circuits in the world, and everyone who can should experience it some time.
Victorian member Robert Judd very kindly hosted us in his family's San Remo holiday house, and we were joined by Peter Bartold on the track. It reminded us that we must re-ignite the old SA-VIC challenges again, as much for the cameraderie as the competition.
    Pics here.

  • McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic - April 10th 2011
The weather forecast wasn't that good, but that didn't prevent a good turnout for what is now one of the best classic car days around. The X1/9 crew got plenty of practice at putting the roof on, off, on again...but it didn't really dampen the spirits too much, as the showers were just a minor inconvenience, and everyone had a great time.
Oxenberry Winery was as welcoming as ever, and combined with the Scuderia club, we all had a great day.
    Pics here.

  • April Breakfast Run - April 3rd 2011
On a glorious Adelaide autumn morning, more than 20 breakfasters tuned up for a drive, so we headed the long way for the Hahndorf Inn, where they cater for such groups with ease.
Many of the regular X1/9s and Spiders, a beaut 850 Special, 124AC, Ritmo, and Alfa GTV were joined by two 500s - Phil Manning's new car, and an Abarth 500 brought along by Gordon Meek. Great weather, great roads, and great breakfast - although Peter Taylor went hungry after a couple of teething problems with his X1/9 1500.
    Pics here.

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 27th 2011
Mallala gave us one of it's classic autumn days for the opening of the supersprinting season, with a cold but dry morning, and a beautiful sunny afternoon.
Brian Alexander brought out his Fiat 125 and Guy Standen, after a year long layoff, returned to the fray and was right on the mark as if he hadn't been away at all. Andrew and Mike Coles in the Alfa as usual, and in the absence of Michael Myllinen (overseas), dad Peter gave the BMW a run very creditably. Photos here, courtesy of Andrew Coles, who unfortunately doesn't feature, as he was on the wrong side of the camera!

  • 2011 MSCA Trophy picnic - February 20th 2011
A small band of the faithful cruised up to Tanunda on a showery morning for the annual MSCA Trophy Picnic. All X1/9s, unfortunately with the roofs on because of the rain - but it soon cleared, and turned out to be a very pleasant day.
We were soon joined by a Spider and 500 Sport - Phil Manning's new pride and joy, driven by Colleen.
We didn't have too many sprinters last year, but the Coles's had a measure of success. Andrew drew his class with a good friend from the Alfa club (there couldn't have been a fairer result!), and Mike was lost for words again when he won the coveted Sprint Driver of the Year perpetual trophy, having just handed it back from last year's success.
    Pics here.

  • 2011 Fiat Nationals at Goulburn - January 14-16th 2011
This year's Fiat Nationals team from SA was a bit depleted, with 5 members making the trip, and only one (Brian Alexander) competing. So if this photo report seems a bit like a Brian fest, no apologies - he deserves the attention!
Alan Pickering travelled with Brian, David Bicknell took the Ritmo, and Mike and Andrew Coles shared the X1/9 drive across the Hay plain.
The Nationals were, as usual, great - competition and cameraderie bringing Fiat enthusiasts from across the country together - even a couple of stalwarts from WA! Show and Shine, motorkhana, and supersprint were the activities, with the added attraction of 29 drivers in one car, the Top Gear inspired "moderately priced Fiat" - a track prepared 132 which just ran all day without a hint of a problem. Photos here. Thanks to NSW member Tony Studans, who took all these shots, and plenty more which you can view via the Fiat Nationals website.

  • January Breakfast Run - January 2nd 2011
We know that all teddy bears love riding in open cars, so the January run was a great day for teddies - with six X1/9s and a Spider on the run, it was wind in the hair (fur?) motoring for all, on a morning which just couldn't have been better.
NSW Fiat Club member Jason and dad Frank joined us in the 124 Spider, and later new 128 owner Steve dropped in, with Abbie as navigator. As well as the Fiats, we had a Honda, Torana GTR and Mercedes Benz to complete the line up.
Breakfast was cooked up on the BBQ, and people and bears alike had a great picnic.
    Pics here.

  • 2010 Christmas Dinner - December 14th 2010
Only a couple of shots here - but the dinner at the Kensington Hotel was a beauty; I don't think Brian Alexander could pick a bad venue if he tried, as this was up to his usual standard.
    Pics here.

  • December Breakfast Run - December 5th 2010
The December run was always going to be a good one - we were going to head down the fabulous Bull Creek Road to Ashbourne, where breakfast awaited at the historic old Greenman Inn. When no fewer than seven X1/9s turned up for the run, along with Brian's 128 SL Coupe, Bruce's 124 CC Coupe, and Phil's Lancia Beta, we knew it would be special, and we weren't disappointed.
The weather was perfect, traffic minimal, and the breakfast on the verandah of the old inn was not only good, but good value as well.

  • Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb - November 5th-7th 2010
Two of our members competed in the 2010 Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb, Mount Gambier member Andy Gill in his 850 Sport Coupe (recently acquired from Roger Ingerson), and Stuart Skinner in his Peugeot 205 GTI.
The website Editor and Editress were there only in a social capacity (with severe competition withdrawal symptoms!), but it was still a great weekend, as it always is.
Both Andy and Stuart acquitted themselves well, improving their times significantly during the event, and running into no problems, either mechanical or driver induced.

  • October Breakfast Run - October 3rd 2010
Twenty four people! We were a bit worried that most of the smaller cafes would go into shock if we turned up for breakfast unannounced, so a quick call to the Big Rocking Horse at Gumeracha enabled them to get the staff in a bit earlier than usual to cope with us. And they coped well, as usual, and that's why it is becoming one of our favourite destinations - not to mention the great roads covered to get there.
    Pics here.

  • Bay to Birdwood - September 26th 2010
Not really a run - just some of us got up early to have a look at the start of the magnificent Bay to Birdwood run, and then met for breakfast at Cafe Sportivo at West Lakes.
But it was such a lovely day that a few of us headed for the hills after breakfast, following the route as far as Gumeracha, and then looped back home via Mount Barker.
    Pics here.

  • Bungaree Station Weekend - Aug 21-22nd 2010
Somebody up there was looking after us, because despite rain before and after the weekend, we managed to do most of our motoring on the weekend with roofs off.
Paul Howard and Joe Heyes put a lot of work into making this a success, and it paid off. Paul organised the overall weekend, and Joe, through his tourism contacts, put together the accommodation and bus tour package; we owe both of them our gratitude.
We cruised to Tarlee for a late breakfast (and voting for some), and then on to Bungaree Station, just north of Clare.
Cars safely parked, we boarded a bus driven by Joe (with Connie as hostess), and hit the wineries. Despite tasting and purchasing some great wines, I must say I was a bit disappointed to be told by the staff at the last winery that we were very well behaved for a four o'clock crowd! We must be getting old, or something.
Saturday night dinner was held in the Shearer's Quarters, followed by a party in the Men's Kitchen. Most of us have by now had the opportunity to sing (?) with the Manning brothers Phil and Derek, and are never disappointed with their enormous musical ability and sense of fun. But a new dimension was added this time, with Louise Beaston bringing along her rare and valuable Stradivarius violin (not to mention her rare and valuable talent), and jamming with the boys. Talented musicians from vastly different disciplines, and an enthusiastic crowd singing along, with plenty of good Clare Valley wine - what more could you want? It was a privilege to be there, and I sense that this was one of those nights that will be talked about for a long time.
Sunday morning was a crisp and frosty Clare Valley morning (thankfully I brought two pairs of jeans, because I broke one pair trying to put them on). A hearty breakfast was followed by a look around the magnificent property, and a drive to Mintaro, and historic Martindale Hall. Lunch at Auburn (the highly recommended Rising Sun Hotel) finished off a great weekend, and we then all wearily made our way home (roof off, of course).
    Pics here.

  • Breakfast Run - August 1st 2010
With storms lashing Adelaide and the hills during Saturday night, you might not have expected a great turnout for our August 1st breakfast run - but you would have been wrong!
Admittedly, there were two 4x4s amongst us, but this was balanced by Trevor's nice Torana GTR, and a couple of new X1/9s - Peter Taylor's newly refurbished blue X1/9 series 1, my own new green series 1, and the welcome return of Bruce Eckersley's Spider. Paul Howard even let his immaculate Bertone X1/9 get a bit wet!
Reidar Pedersen's Nuovo 500 and Dave Bicknell's lively Ritmo added a bit of modern flavour.
The run was surprisingly dry for the most part - Greenhill Rd, Balhannah, Oakbank, then some little known roads back through to the hamlet of Dawesley, and on to Hahndorf for breakfast, via Nairne and Littlehampton.
On the approach to Hahndorf, though, the big black cloud finally split open, and shed it's contents on our convoy; it was good to get into the Old Mill for shelter, even although the buffet breakfast was pretty average. Pics here.

  • Birdwood Mill Museum display - July 18th 2010
On a rather dreary hills day, a small band of us trekked up to Birdwood to the National Motor Museum, to set up a display of our cars. The display will be on for three months, and we will rotate some new cars in at about half way.
For starters - a pair each of Fiats and Lancias from the 60s to the 80s. Dave Collier's beautiful Fiat 2300 sedan and Ross King's charming 124 wagon (which has owned since new) representing Fiat, with the Lancias of Phil Holland (Beta sedan) and David Rudzitis (Delta Integrale HF 16v).
And to add a bit of technical interest - Brian Alexander's 1600 turbo twin cam engine on a display stand. I just hope we can keep up the standard for the second half!
    Pics here.

  • Breakfast Run - May 2nd 2010
Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Peugeot...a great collection for this Sunday's run.
And you might not believe it, but there is a windy, twisty way to get to Virginia, you've just got to know the right roads. Some of the breakfasters had not experienced Deviation Rd, Coldstore Rd and Fox Creek Rd before, so we showed them the lot, which made for a much more interesting way to get to Virginia Nursery than going straight up the Main North Road.
    Pics here.

  • McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic Day - April 18th 2010
We were lucky with the weather, great for tops down and the parade through McLaren Vale. There was a fantastic variety of cars, including rarities such as a Hansa, and a mint Chevrolet Corvair.
Our club had a great variety of Fiats, including Peter Taylor's 128, Scott Woodsmith's Cabriolet, Dave Collier's 2300, Ross King's 124 wagon, the Beaston and Schultz X1/9s, as well as Phil Holland's Lancia Beta.
We shared the venue with the Scuderia Club, who brought along several Alfas, Fiat 131 and 124CC, and a Ferrari. However, we considered we trumped them when Hal turned up in his newly acquired Rolls Royce!
    Pics here.

  • MSCA Picnic Trophy Day - February 21st 2010
A small number turned out for the MSCA Trophy Picnic, but the display was of a high standard. Not to mention the drive up to the Barossa Valley, which was by no means via the most direct route!
After coffee at Angaston, we continued to Tanunda, where a relaxing afternoon was spent in the great gum studded setting that is Peter Lehmann's winery.
Andrew and Mike Coles picked up some trophies, but alas, not Fiat powered.
    Pics here.

  • Breakfast Run - January 3rd 2010
A record twenty three breakfasters turned out at Burnside for our February run, with a great collections of Fiats (no fewer than seven X1/9s!), and Phil Holland's Lancia, of course.
As well as the resurgence of X1/9s, it is pleasing to see a couple of nuovo Fiats in the lineup, this time represented by Dave Bicknell's Ritmo and Reidar Pedersen's 500. 124 Coupes and Spiders were also represented, making a great mix of vehicles touring the great hills roads to one of our favourites, the Meadows Bakery.
    Pics here.

  • Fiat Nationals 2010
Eleven FLCCSA members attended the 2010 Fiat Nationals at Goulburn, most travelling the 1200 Km across the Hay plains in thankfully mild weather this time.
Terry and Meredith Beaston were a bit smarter, flying to Sydney and picking up a rented new Fiat 500 for the weekend, and thus avoiding all those tedious straight roads the rest of us spent a couple of days on.
We mostly went for the fun of the event, but had a measure of success thrown in as well - Bryce Alexander won the overall Fiat National Champion award, and has brought the coveted Richard Unkles Trophy back to SA. It was only away for 12 months, as Andrew Coles won it in 2008; let's see if someone else can step up to the plate next year and keep it in SA.
Photos are in four different gallery folders - motorkhana, show and shine, supersprint, and social. Click on the links below.

  • Breakfast Run - January 3rd 2010
Rather than look for a restaurant for our first breakfast run of 2010, we arranged a BBQ at Clarendon, one of our favourite spots in the hills, and only accessible by proper twisty roads. And chef Phil Holland excelled as usual, organising the food and cooking it himself, albeit with a little help from his friends!
We had some new cars along this time - Reidar Pedersen's new Fiat 500 Sport (which I am sorry I failed to get a decent photo of), Joe and Connie Heyes in the long awaited (and beautiful) 124 Spider, Peter Taylor's 128 nearing the end of it's preparation for Wakefield Park, and Trevor and Dianne Unwin in the racing FJ Holden, complete with period skunk stripes! Your editor was again remiss and failed to get a photo of this car too.
Along with the usual array of X1/9s, 124 Coupes and one each Honda, Suzuki, and Suzuki motorbike, we made up quite a diverse group, and with the weather being sunny and bright, so too was the conversation.
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - December 6th 2009
We thought it was about time we had breakfast with a view, so headed the long way to Mount Lofty, which overlooks the entire Adelaide city and metropolitan area. We didn't get much of a run up Greenhill Road, so just sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed the scenery, taking in Uraidla, Piccadilly Valley, and our destination, the incredible view from Mount Lofty.
Peter Taylor's 128 sedan was a welcome addition to the group, even though it is a work in progress. It needs a bit of attention to the suspension, but the engine already sounds very healthy despite it still being run in.
With Brian Alexander's 128 coupe along as well, is this the beginning of a resurgence of the front wheel drive 128 series cars?
    Pics here.
  • Picnic and BBQ at The Gums Reserve, Tranmere - December 29th 2009
With Historic Registrations due to be checked at the end of the Club year, we held our annual inspections at the beautiful Gums reserve at Tranmere. Trouble is - the weather was a bit, er patchy to say the least!
But it takes more than a bit of rain to deter us, and we went ahead regardless. Paul Howard cooked a beaut BBQ for the members, and we were treated to a procession of Fiats and Lancias (and some other makes), arriving to present their credentials for the next year of historic registration. Some were even seen roofless during the fine breaks.
    Pics here.
  • Classic Adelaide Rally - November 2009
The 2009 Classic Adelaide Rally had two Lancias (A Fulvia HF and a Delta Integrale) and a Fiat competing this year.
It proved to be very successful for FLCCSA member Guy Standen and his navigator, father Graham in the 124 CC Coupe, winning both the class and the category.
The CC ran faultlessly throughout, and surprised a number of much more powerful competitors (that is, after all, what Fiats are good at!)
It turns out that Guy is as good at the keyboard as he is at the wheel, as he has written an article which is not to be missed. Click here to read the full story, with some great shots of the CC in action.
  • Breakfast Run - November 1st 2009
November started with a hot morning, with eight cars at the meeting point at Burnside. Your Editor's X1/9 is now running reliably, so the Alfa Sprint can now be left home. So another Alfa turned up - Terry and Meredith in their GTV6, which has artificial aircon rather than the X1/9's natural version!
Brian Alexander gave his beaut little 128SL Coupe a bit of a run, amongst no less than five of it's rear drive 128 cousins, and Peter Taylor's 124 BC Coupe.
Kelsey's Cottage is always welcoming, and the other attraction is that it also happens to be at the far end of the wonderful drive which is Greenhill Road.
    Pics here.
  • Weekend away at Second Valley - October 17-18th 2009
A small band met at Surfers Cafe Hallett Cove on Saturday morning to start a great weekend away.
We travelled through the hills to Goolwa for a car museum visit, and lunch, and then on the magnificent Parawa road across the southern Fleurieu Peninsula to Leonard's Mill at Second Valley.
The weather was great, the scenery spectacular, and the roads wonderful, for what turned out to be a great driving weekend.
Not to mention the social activities - let's just say a LOT of fun was had by all.
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - October 4th 2009
Yours truly can only report on the start of the October run, as the X1/9 ran beautifully until it blew a head gasket half way up Greenhill Rd. It was almost the only thing not reconditioned in it's makeover, as the seller told us "it's recently had a rebuilt cylinder head installed"!
The rest of our group, I'm told, had a great breakfast at the Hahndorf Inn, whilst we struggled home and got the backup car, to meet them later at the wonderful Lobethal Grand Carnival.
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - September 6th 2009
The Meadows Bakery again, but that's no hardship. And the drive through Blackwood and Clarendon was just as entertaining as ever. A 130 sedan, 124 Coupes, X1/9s, Ritmo and Lancia Beta were joined by a Statesman (!) and the Coles Alfa making it's last appearance, with an X1/9 waiting in the garage for the makeover to be completed, so it can join in next time.
    Some photos here.
  • Breakfast Run - August 2nd 2009
A great run to Victor - the breakfast, drive, weather and museum were all fantastic! The Bull creek Road is just wonderful, especially at this time of year.
The museum car collection is small, but the cars are quite rare, including a one of a kind Ariel, the only one left in the world of 124 built. There is also an excellent collection of auto paraphanalia, and the site overlooking Victor Harbor is something to behold! (report from Terry Beaston)
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - June 7th 2009
A good turnout for the June breakfast run, taking the long way on some nice twisty roads to Hahndorf, where we had a great German style breakfast. Only some braved the eggs, bacon and Bratwurst option, though!
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - May 3rd 2009
A Fiat, Lancia and Alfa collection met on a glorious autumn morning, and headed for the Cudlee Cafe at Cudlee Creek. The predominant car was the X1/9, followed by Spider, which can't be a bad thing, and they all had the hoods down.
The cafe was overwhelmed with car and bike nuts before we even got there, so we just added to the mayhem! But they coped well, and with good humour - time passed quickly as we chatted, and they mistook this for patience!
    Pics here.
  • Mount Alma Mile Hillclimb - April 19th 2009
Only one Fiat entered the inaugural Mount Alma Mile Hillclimb, held on a very steep yet fast hill near Inman Valley on the Victor Harbor-Yankallilla road.
Guy Standen was looking great in his 124CC, improving with each run, when one little error sent him off the road at probably the worst point to leave it! The Fiat and Guy were thankfully stopped by a fence, avoiding a much worse outcome, as the other side of the fence was a steep fall for a very, very long way. Guy's OK, and although it could have been worse, the CC needs a bit of attention before it's next outing.
The Coles Alfa also competed, with Andrew picking up second in class, being pipped by 0.18 sec for first place on the last run, and Mike following up in fourth.
Everyone (nearly) had a great time, and we hope that this will become a regular event.
    See the photos here.
  • Breakfast Run - April 5th 2009
We met at Burnside amid early morning showers, but that didn't deter the faithful - some even opting for hood down, as long as the speed was kept up!
If it's already raining, then heading for Stirling is not usually likely to improve matters; however, although the roads were wet, the rain mostly stayed away and it was a great little drive anyway.
And the breakfast at Cafe Zizzi must have been good, as most lingered until almost lunchtime.
    Pics here.
  • MSCA Trophy Day and Picnic - Feb 15th 2009
The annual Marque Sports Car Association Trophy Day was held in glorious summer weather at what has become the usual venue, the picturesque Peter Lehmann winery in the Barossa Valley.
After meeting at Tea Tree Plaza, our contingent had a great little drive to Williamstown for morning tea, and then continued on to Tanunda.
Andrew Coles won the MSCA 2 litre production class for 2008, which Garren accepted on his behalf.
Paul Howard organised a bit of fun and games; I'll add no comment - the photos tell it all!
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - February 1st 2009
In the middle of one Adelaides worst heatwaves (a week or so with days over 40°C) we ventured out in the morning for a great little drive through the hills, finishing up at Hallett Cove for a beaut breakfast at the Surfers Cafe, adjacent to Hallett Cove Conservation Park.
By the time breakfast was over (and the temporarily lost Peter Taylor had arrived), the sun was a bit fierce for a foray into the park, but it's on the list of things do when the weather's a bit more friendly. Thanks to Paul for finding this gem - we'll be back for sure.
    See the photos here.
  • Fiat Nationals - Jan 16-18th 2009
Only a small SA contingent travelled across the Hay plains this year, but that didn't diminish the fun factor. Even the weather was kind to us, with a relatively mild 40°C day for the trip back (relative to the 46°C of a couple of years ago, that is!)
The city of Goulburn was most welcoming to us, with a street closed off for the brilliant Presentazione display, and much interest shown in our cars by the locals.
The Fiat of Italy Cup was hotly contested at Wakefield Park, which was a great venue if a little dusty at this time of year. Goulburn's average January rainfall is 64mm, so although we saw none of it this year, we well may be dealing with mud next time.
And Wakefield Park turns out to be a beaut race circuit as well, a challenging layout, and immaculately maintained in picture perfect condition.
Click here for some shots of motorkhana and presentatione, and here for the supersprint.
  • Christmas Dinner - December 13th 2008
The Club's Christmas Dinner was at the Earl of Leicester Hotel in Parkside. As can be seen from these photos (ably taken by Terry Beaston), a good time was had by all. Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - December 7th 2008
Another great Adelaide Hills morning, and we headed towards what has become a favourite - the Meadows Bakery. A nice little drive to a sleepy little town, until we were surrounded by more Harley Davidsons than you've ever seen before.
But even though the machinery contrasted, the aim was the same - a drive or ride through this truly wonderful part of the planet!
  • Fiat X1/9 Anniversary Run - November 23rd 2008
We were greeted with a beautiful day for our outing to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Fiat X1/9 to Australia, and what better way to do it than to get into the Adelaide Hills on the last day of the Classic Adelaide Rally.
Breakfast in Clarendon's Riverbend reserve, lunch at McLaren Vale, and then viewing the rally on the Chapel Hill stage. Your editor was only able to be present for the early part of the day, so click here for a small selection of shots.
  • Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb - November 8-9th 2008
There were a couple of Fiats competing in the 2008 Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb at Mount Gambier, and your webeditor can assure you that even at his "off-the" pace it was a real challenge to drive.
We also produced a class winner, Andrew Coles in road registered (1-2000cc).
The collection of photos includes Roger Ingerson's 850 Sport Coupe, Steve Daws' 124 sedan, and Michael Doube's beautiful little 1300 X1/9.
The last of the photos wasn't a participant - he was found by the roadside on the way back!
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run - November 2nd 2008
On a thunder and lightning type morning, no fewer than 18 people turned up for our regular impromptu run. But the weather improved, and it was hoods down and off up Greenhill Road once again - you just never get tired of driving some roads!
Kelsey Cottage at Balhannah was our destination, and a beaut breakfast was enjoyed by all.
    Pics here.
  • Burra Weekend Cruise - October 25-26th 2008
It was a bit hot on the way up, but plenty of refreshment stops along the way helped out. There was a great turnout of X1/9s including Paul's 88 red X, Gary's green X from Tumby Bay, Dave's metallic one and the silver one belonging to Derek, as well as Phil Manning's green 124BC. Meredith and Terry travelled in the air conditioned Jeep "service vehicle", which is great for hay fever!
Saturday night dinner at the Burra Hotel, a BBQ breakfast, lunch at Clare on the way back - no one went hungry. A tour of historic Burra added variety, and the Paxton Cottages were just great.
A bonus was some of the group discovering the much talked about Fiat on a pole enroute, in the middle of nowhere near Robertstown.
    Pics here.
  • Lobethal Grand Carnival - October 12th 2008
You missed a great day out if you didn't turn up for this! The Grand Prix re-enactment on the fearsome 14 Km 47 corner circuit was a bit tamer than in the 1938-48 period, as it was a "spirited demonstration" in 2008.
But that didn't take anything away from the spectacle, as we had a very sociable outing, with many club members attending, and many other friends as well. And the cars and bikes - well, just turn up next year and you won't be disappointed.
    Pics here.
  • October Breakfast Run to Port Noarlunga - October 5th 2008
A bit of a poor turnout at Burnside turned into a good crowd at Port Noarlunga - where we were joined by a number of our Southern members.
The restaurant suffered a small case of shock when we waltzed in unannounced with about 20 for breakfast, but a phone call for more staff saw the situation resolved. And we were in no hurry anyway, so a nice relaxed and most enjoyable morning was enjoyed by all. The venue, Patricia's Restaurant at Port Noarlunga, coped well and provided a great breakfast in a congenial atmosphere, once the staff arrived!
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run to Birdwood - September 7th 2008
Rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of those who turned up for a joint Italian - French breakfast run. At least for the Italian sector, who outnumbered the French by about a dozen to two!
    Pics here.
  • 30th Anniversary Dinner - June 28th 2008
Fellini's Restaurant at North Adelaide was the venue for the 30th Anniversary Dinner, and what a great venue it was.
Around fifty people, both recent members and originals, gathered for a night of wining, dining, and a bit of tall story telling.
It was a great night - see the photos here.
  • Breakfast Run to Lyndoch, Barossa Valley - June 1st 2008
Great company, great cars, great roads, great weather, and great food.
That about sums up the run. Despite it being the first day of winter, the hills were looking lush, the sun shone, and we truly are blessed with some of the world's best Fiat driving roads.
And the Barossa Valley ambience and good food at reasonable prices just added to the enjoyment.
    See the photos here.
  • River and Lakes Run - May 18th 2008
We all heard what a state the River Murray and lower (no pun intended!) lakes are in, so we went and had a look for ourselves. Only trouble is, SA has had wonderful rains in the last few days, and looking at drought damage when you can't get out of the car because of the rain takes a bit away from the aura!
After a great drive through the hills, we stopped at Milang, then Clayton for morning tea, before continuing on to Goolwa for the local markets on the wharf, then crossing the bridge to Hindmarsh Island where we met for lunch at the Marina (Rankine Landing).
The river and lake are certainly low (as you can see from the photos), and although the recent rain is welcome, it will not do much to relieve this much stressed system.
On a more positive note, our happy band met up with the Alexanders for lunch, and also Scott in his lovely 1963 Cabriolet. After lunch, we adjourned to Edward Booth's place, where we crawled over and examined in much detail his electric X1/9, which is just about to hit the roads.
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run to The Big Rocking Horse, Gumeracha - May 4th 2008
On a beautiful May morning, we headed for the Adelaide Hills again, this time to the Big Rocking Horse at Gumeracha, via some great Classic Adelaide roads, including the infamous Corkscrew Road.
Several Fiats, some other makes, and Wayne's immaculate new hot rod made it a pretty mixed group, and when we got to our destination, the car park was already full of classic cars.
I can't speak highly enough of the cafe, as they provided a scrumtious breakfast, reasonably priced and cheerfully served, and without too much delay, despite the two car clubs almost overwhelming the place.
    Pics here.
  • Breakfast Run to Meadows Bakery - April 6th 2008
A good turnout, on a great morning, to what's becoming a favourite haunt - the Meadows Bakery, for breakfast.

  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 2nd 2008
Thanks to Andrew Coles for these shots of the FLCCSA contingent at the first sprint of the year.
See the super-sprinting page for full results, and Andrew's photos here.
  • MSCA Trophy Day - February 17th 2008
Congratulations to Brian Alexander for picking up a much deserved class win for last supersprinting season, but that was all the success we could muster for the day. It didn't prevent us from having a beaut morning run through the hills and a great day out, though, as these shots from Andrew Coles will show.
    Photos from the day here.
  • Fiat Al Monte - Bathurst, NSW - January 19-20 2008

  • Breakfast run - December 2nd 2007
A small band of happy travellers turned out for the run, and we drove straight up Greenhill Road (always a good drive) to it's far end at Balhannah, where we found a nice little cottage cafe with an outside eating area.
It was a great spot, although the thousands of flies sharing our meal almost dampened our enthusiasm for a while!
    Pics here.
  • Classic Adelaide Rally- November 22nd-25th 2007
Guy and Graham Standen did the Fiat marque proud when they competed recently in the Classic Adelaide Rally.

Thanks to Drew Milne for some of these photos.
  • Fiat Lancia Sul Mare - October 14th 2007
The Semaphore foreshore turned out to be a great venue for the inaugural Fiat Lancia Sul Mare (Fiat Lancia by the Sea) display day.
Click here for some shots of a perfect day out.
  • Mid Year Dinner - July 14th 2007
The British Hotel at North Adelaide was the venue for our mid year dinner, and what a great venue!
A good roll-up of members, great food, a nice atmosphere - what more could you want?.
    See Rocco Rositano's shots here.
  • Not the Classic Adelaide Run - July 1st 2007
A wet Sunday morning greeted punters for the Not the Classic Adelaide run - slippery roads, and a fog filled tunnel.
We followed the lead car, a previously unknown Fiat model called WRX (see photos) to Myponga dam for a photo opportunity.
Then off to Victor Harbor for a spot of lunch, trying to keep the rain out, and willing the windscreen wipers to work on the way through Mount Compass.
Thanks to Michael D'Acierno and Tony Martini for a great day out, and Rocco Rositano for this report.
    Pics here.
  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 25th 2007

  • Sunday morning run - November 26th 2006
With the cancellation of the All Italian Day, many must have thought that our planned run was off, as only a small number of Fiats turned up. It's a pity, because Tony set a great drive for us, from Adelaide to a great little bakery at Mount Pleasant for coffee and cake, then on to Mannum on the River Murray for lunch.
The weather was great and so were the roads; we realised later that we had driven five of last week's Classic Adelaide Rally Stages!
Photos here, thanks to Andrew Coles, Rocco Rossitano and Lincoln Mordecai.
Make sure you read the full report in your December magazine.
  • MSCA Supersprint Round 3 - August 27th 2006
Not many takers, but a beaut day at sunny Mallala for those of us suffering sprint deprivation - it was a long time since the last Supersprint!
The Eckersley and Alexander Fiats once again ran faultlessly.
The Coles's in the Alfa Sprint discovered that not all developments are immediately successful, with the rear of the car now being faster than the front - ie, it sometimes arrived at the corner first!
Photos here (thanks again to Maximum Attack Photography), and look in your September magazine for a full report and more pics.
  • Punt Run - August 13th 2006
A beautiful mild morning followed by a sunny day, great for Fiat and Lancia driving - and for a very sociable outing.
    Pics here.
  • Port Elliot Go-kart day - July 16th 2006
What we all thought would be a washout turned out to be a great day - both go-karting and lunching. Twenty or so members and friends turned out. Pics here.
  • MSCA Supersprint Round 2 - April 9th 2006
The usual suspects, but what a great day! Photos here, courtesy of Maximum Attack Photography.
  • MSCA Supersprint Round 1 - March 5th 2006
Thanks to Bruce Eckersley and Peter Taylor for helping out with officiating on the day.
Not a great turnout of drivers though - only Brian Alexander and Russell Frick in Fiats, and Mike and Andrew Coles jointly entered in the Alfa Sprint. • MSCA Trophy Picnic - February 19th 2006
Peter Lehmann Winery, Tanunda, in the beautiful Barossa Valley.
On a glorious February day, a good gathering of our members met and travelled in convoy to the MSCA Trophy Day. Whilst we didn't add anything at all to the trophy cabinet, a good time was had by all, and the shots you will find here will show you what you missed if you weren't there!
